‘Christian Mission in a Pagan Culture’
A day with Bishop Tom Wright
Carrs Lane Church Centre, Birmingham
Saturday 17th June 2006
10am – 4pm
£18 (unwaged £12) – bring your own lunch
Is British culture Christian, secular – or pagan? How is paganism understood in the New Testament? What is a Christian and a pagan worldview? Is it constructive to talk, or think, of our culture as pagan? How should this affect Christian living, church life and mission today?
To request a registration form, please e-mail conference@gospel-culture.org.uk typing ‘register’ in the subject box.

£18? To hear God’s Word? And you provide your own lunch, so that the excuse can’t even be made – ‘Oh, well, it is to cover refreshments, etc..’?
Perhaps I should start an entrance fee each Sunday?
I wonder how much they made from the ‘Sermon on the Mount’ conference in Matthew’s Gospel… Judas must have been thrilled!
£18??
A lecture series is a very different kind of thing from a sermon, a conference is a very different thing from the covenant renewal worship of the people of God. I would have no objection to paying to hear a non-Christian lecture on some subject for a day; in principle I see no reason to object to hearing a world-renowned Christian scholar lecturing either. I pay tuition fees to hear people lecture on the Bible in university; I don’t see how this really differs. Of course, if I had to pay to hear them preach I would raise a stink.
That said, the price is a bit steep.
£18 to hear “God’s word”, Pencils? Are you thinking of the same Bishop Wright as I am?
Haven’t got time to say more than just applaud the sentiment…
but then I am a young fogey, as they say…
oops, sorry, that was meant to be a response to teh litugy post!
I was at the conference last Saturday and I can say it was definitely worth £18.00. It’s refreshing to find a Bishop as committed to expounding Biblical truth as Wright.
