The list has very few influential Christians on it and rather a lot of entertainers and politicians; in other words, pretenders. If that’s the best we have to offer- woe unto us.
I would rather have 1 pastor shepherding and influencing a small congregation in St. Louis (Jeff Meyers/Mark Horne, Providence Reformed PCA) or Norman Oklahoma (Mike Biggs/Doug Serven, Christ the King PCA) or Edinburgh (Derek Lamond, St. Columba’s Free Church) than all the spots on this list. This list does nothing but measure how many people know someone’s name. I know men who change people’s lives.
This is very discouraging indeed. Reading this list, you would never guess that North America has also produced some very creative and significant Christian thinkers.
Hmm…to look at the list, you might actually come to think that those who seek after personal acclaim don’t tend to be the best of Christians! Oh, wait.
Though I do find it personally irking that of the 50, only 10 of them don’t have used-car-salesman grins.
At the same time, I feel a number of the people on the list are good Christians seeking to carry His message — even if a bit shaky on theology.
