Earth Cake

A few months ago, some of my closest friends in Durham promised to create a planet cake with me upon the submission of my PhD. This weekend, with the help of a gifted six year old cake decorator, we finally got around to making it. The following are pictures of its construction, which I thought that I would share here (click on any of the pictures to scroll through, or to take a closer look).

  1. Wow. And I thought my four-and-a-half-hour “Ruska Torta” took a long time! I’m guessing this took more than that. Of course, if I had friends to help….Congratulations on the cake and on your work!

Thanks for doing this! It is really clever, and it obviously was great fun to do. We have just gone back from a seventieth birthday party, but are off to bed now. Much love, and many blessings, Mummy.
