Here’s one to chew on: is pedophilia a sexual orientation?
From what I have read about it, I think that it could fairly be classified as such. I recently discussed the relationship between this and Christian debates about homophilia in this comment and those which follow.

Hi whitefrozen. I was told by a psychotherapist friend that it is a ‘predilection’ – can’t be ‘cured’ but can be managed… a bit like addiction to alcohol.

Hi whitefrozen, My psychotherapist friend also described it a a ‘proclivity. I thought the two words were synonymous, but apparently they have different shades of meaning.

I have a fear that whatever the most excruciatingly painful path is, that’s what God has in store for me so that I’ll be more like Him. I fear that I have lesson upon lesson to learn by facing death through exactly whatever hurts the most. Do you think that’s a biblical perspective?

You have mentioned ‘fear’ twice in your post. Jesus is with you in your fears. I think of Jesus in Gethsemane, in such anguish that he was ‘sweating blood’. Whatever lies ahead for you, the Lord is with you. I will continue to pray for you. Christine
It is ‘a’ perspective, and one that has biblical analogues in Job and elsewhere. However, as a biblical perspective, it is never the final perspective. How things appear as we pass through the Valley of the Shadow of Death is never the same as they appear when we see things from a higher vantage point.
It is God’s good pleasure to give you his kingdom. He is for us. He may call you to walk a bitterly painful path in order to get there. Gone before us is a mighty crowd of witnesses, many of whom have walked the same road. Whatever sorrow you now experience, joy will come in that morning.
