OK, I have been tagged, so here goes:
1. Seven things to do before I die
2. Seven things I cannot do
3. Seven things that attract me to my spouse
4. Seven things I say most often
5. Seven books (or series) I love
6. Seven movies I watch over and over again (or would watch over and over if I had the time)
7. Seven people I want to join in, too
Seven things to do before I die:
1. Learn to play the piano
2. Have Strongbad respond to one of my e-mails
3. Read and master Barth’s Church Dogmatics and Aquinas’ Summa Theologica
4. Learn Latin (and German and Russian)
5. Spend a year in Africa
6. Start and finish a major writing project
7. Learn to ride the unicycle
Seven things I cannot do:
1. Dance
2. Small talk
3. Resist a tangent
4. Speak a language other than English fluently (speaking English fluently would be quite an achievement, for that matter)
5. Run a marathon
6. Organize my time
7. Get down to Hebrew revision…
Seven things that attract me to my spouse:
I don’t have a spouse at present. Nor does the vaguest shadow of a spouse even graze my horizon. I will alter the question to deal with the attributes that I would find attractive in a potential spouse. The following list probably explains a lot about my present state…
1. Wisdom and discretion (to supplement my lack)
2. Love and outgoing compassion
3. Patience and understanding (lots of these)
4. A peaceful joy. I wouldn’t want to marry someone who was really opinionated (or overly giddy, for that matter).
5. Intelligence, with a playful wit, but not arrogant, quarrelsome, cynical or dismissive. I wouldn’t want to marry someone who agreed with me all the time.
6. Determination and courage
7. Unflaunted beauty
Seven things I say most often:
1. It seems to me that…
2. Have you read…/You should read…
3. How goes?
4. However…
5. Umm…, yes…, uh-huh… (without really listening)
6. See you around.
7. Peter, please bless us with your absence.
Seven books (or series) I love:
1. J.R.R. Tolkien, The Lord of the Rings
2. Bill Watterson’s Calvin and Hobbes books
3. Umberto Eco, The Name of the Rose
4. Peter Leithart, Against Christianity
5. J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter books
6. Kenneth Grahame, The Wind in the Willows
7. N.T. Wright, Romans commentary
Seven movies I watch over and over again (or would if I had the time):
1. O Brother, Where art Thou?
2. Babette’s Feast
3. The Lord of the Rings trilogy
4. Star Wars (the original trilogy)
5. The Pirates of the Caribbean
6. Toy Story 2
7. Chariots of Fire
Seven people I want to join in:
If you want to be tagged, leave a comment and I will tag you.

Lemme know when you want to start on piano.
Or Russian. My Russian stinks, but sometimes you get the best help from other beginners.
I don’t envisage myself starting on the piano anytime soon. It would not be easy to keep in practice whilst at university. When I finish at St Andrews I would love to take it up.
Unfortunately, while I was at school it was very hard to pick up any musical instrument because we had so much homework assigned to us (at one stage we had to sign a form committing ourselves to three to three and a half hours every night). With the little time that I had left I preferred to play outside.
I don’t know, is getting tagged at all painful?
Nice to “see” you again, btw. I don’t know how I lost track of your blog, but am glad to have found it again….
It’s good to ‘see’ you in the comments again. Welcome back!
