    Did it overheat because of poor air circulation (dead fan)?

    If so, you might be able to cheaply replace the fan, assuming things didn’t get so hot that your processor fried.

    Intel processors don’t fry:

    Provided you have an intel chip, you can be pretty sure you’ll be OK in that direction.
